Invasive species Invasive species are plant or animal species that have been introduced from another part of the world into our native, or endemic, ecosystem. Invasives are particularly aggressive species that can displace and overtake native populations, sometimes having a devastating effect on native ecosystems.

Human activities People's activities can cause impacts to fragile coastal ecosystems if we're not careful. Poorly planned development, structures, vehicle use and improper beach access are examples of activities that can be destructive to the shore environment. Well planned stewardship approaches can help provide balance to our use of the beach with protection of coastal biodiversity.
