Human Activities

People on beach - Labour Day 2004

People's activities can cause impacts to fragile coastal ecosystems if we're not careful.  Poorly planned development, structures, vehicle use and improper beach access are examples of activities that can be destructive to the shore environment.  Well planned stewardship approaches can help provide balance to our use of the beach with protection of coastal biodiversity.

Protecting Oliphant's Coast

Protecting Oliphant's Coast
If we manage our activities wisely, we can ensure that the ecology of the beaches at Oliphant remain intact for future generations, and the special habitat they provide for rare and at-risk species can continue to be sustained.

Protecting Our Beaches

Protecting Our Beaches
Is there really a problem with driving a vehicle on a beach? The use of vehicles in beach areas is a practice that is being challenged throughout the world as a better understanding develops of beach ecology and the environmental consequences of allowing vehicles on beaches.
