  • Erosion Control using Soil Bioengineering
    This is a kind of erosion control method that combines structural engineering with vegetation planting

    Note: the Goderich Bluff Slope Stabilization project done by the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority in the 1990s used soil bioengineering methods). The advantage is a more resilient slope stabilization. Live plant material forms anchoring roots, draws water from the soil, establishes a microclimate that benefits healthy plant growth and improves general ecology of the lakeshore. Since most of the 'structure' is based on live plant material, it is low to no maintenance, and self regenerating.
