Action Now for Life on Earth: A Video

The 2010 Biodiversity Target was agreed by all Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in 2002: “to achieve by 2010 a significant reduction of the current rate of biodiversity loss at the global, regional and national level as a contribution to poverty alleviation and to the benefit of all life on earth.” This video, produced for the opening of the 8th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Curitiba, Brazil in March 2006, talks about the 2010 Target, its importance for life on Earth, and the actions being taken by the global community for its realization. It is the result of a collaboration between the Division of Communications and Public Information of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP DCPI)) and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD).
